II. Unit Characteristics

Pikeman increases its own attack range.

III. Combat Role

As a Tier 2 Unit Type in the Spearman series, Pikeman maintains the Spearman's counter relationship against Cavalry. Evolved from Tier 1 Spearman, it is suitable for Commanders with high Spearman Unit Affinity or skills that threaten Cavalry. In combat, Pikeman should focus on distance from the Enemy Army, utilizing its attack range advantage to find optimal positioning, prioritizing strikes against enemy Cavalry to reduce damage taken and maintain combat effectiveness.

In Formation setups, rationally leveraging counter relationships between Unit Types is a key strategy for gaining combat advantage.

IV. Commander Recommendations

Luo Cheng: Luo Cheng has "Extreme" Unit Affinity with Spearman, granting extra attribute bonuses. His formation-leading Skill allows multiple Normal Attacks, providing stable damage, but his low durability makes him vulnerable to focus fire. Advancing Luo Cheng's Spearman into Pikeman leverages the increased attack range for better positioning control, reducing damage risk and aiding sustained damage.

Yang Jian: Yang Jian also has "Extreme" Unit Affinity with Spearman, receiving extra attribute bonuses. His formation-leading Skill deals both Physical and Magic Damage, with a chance to ignore enemy Damage Reduction effects, posing significant threat to enemy frontlines. To avoid being focused when positioned too forward, it's recommended to advance Yang Jian's Spearman Troops into Pikeman, allowing them to maintain distance under allied frontline protection while consistently attacking enemy frontlines.
